1- Aberdare Gardens

Rug Design Ideas for every space of your home

The house is a 3,600 square foot red brick Victorian family home on three floors with four bedrooms and three reception rooms. Shalini Misra Ltd designed this property by incorporating an extension that houses an additional living room space, allowing the ground floor to function as a grand entertainment space when required.

2- Eaton Place Belgravia

Rug Design Ideas for every space of your home

This beautifully designed Grade II listed apartment in Belgravia, London, is a home away from home with an extraordinary neo-classical façade and casual-luxe aesthetic. The interior was completely reconfigured to create a flowing space with three en-suite bedrooms, a kitchen, family room, study, and spacious entertaining area for a family of four based primarily in the US.

3- Fairfax Road

Rug Design Ideas for every space of your home

This four-story house was built in the 1850s, and the client was a family of four, including two teenage daughters, who had previously lived there. The brief was to change the layout to reflect their family’s lifestyle and to incorporate elements of their artistic side. The lower ground floor was transformed into a communal area, complete with an open-plan kitchen and an informal living and dining area.

4- Gilston Road Chelsea

Shalini Misra designed and restored this piece. This detached 1850s property is spread across five floors in Chelsea’s conservation area of The Boltons. It is surrounded on three sides by a lovely garden, with three light wells leading down to courtyards in the basement. Externally, the house exhibits a variety of styles, rich in architectural detail, with a recognisable Italian-villa design featuring a pyramid-roofed tower at the front of the property.

5- Hamilton Terrace

This six-floor family home in London’s St John’s Wood celebrates indoor-outdoor living with wall to ceiling windows and a cantilevered veranda. The reconfiguration of the space to create a larger living area was critical to this project. We accomplished this by relocating the staircase from the centre of the space and connecting the upper and lower ground floors via a double-height light well with a custom-commissioned chandelier.

Holiday House, founded in 2008, is an interior design showhouse where top interior designers and lifestyle brands showcase their talent in order to raise critical funds for breast cancer prevention and treatment. Shalini and her team were asked to design the master bedroom for the first Holiday House edition in London. The event featured the best of the UK design industry in two houses in St John’s Wood, with all proceeds benefiting breast cancer research.

7- Jubilee Place, Chelsea

Rug Design Ideas for every space of your home

Jubilee Place, a Victorian house with a mock Tudor frontage, is located in a conservation area off London’s busy King’s Road in Chelsea on a peaceful idyllic street. This type of facade, which can be found all over England, gives no indication of the surprise that awaits behind the front door and windows. The client, a family of four, required a complete remodel of the space in order to create a more modern way of living.

The goal was to create an interior that was both familiar and warm, where serenity and calm could be found after a long day in the city while also reflecting the excitement of the bustling city in which it is located. This was accomplished in part by combining pieces by local New York designers and studios with pieces by international designers, as well as a mix of vintage and contemporary sleek designs.

9- South Audley Street Mayfair

Rug Design Ideas for every space of your home

This spacious three-bedroom apartment, located on one of London’s most prestigious streets in the heart of Mayfair, is a celebration of Shalini’s vision and distinctive approach to interior design. We preserved the character and history of the property by incorporating original Victorian features such as cornices and fireplaces, while also adding modern finishes such as automation, air conditioning, and underfloor heating.
