Porto, one of Europe’s oldest cities, is now a design powerhouse. The Torre dos Clérigos, designed by Nicolau Nasoni, is in the heart of the city, and nearby is the Maria Pia bridge, the result of a collaboration between the two great brains of Teófilo Seyrig and Gustave Eiffel.

The charm and mysticism of this area, bathed in the Douro River, is undeniable. The river bathes the old city’s coasts while also giving life to the many vineyards that supply grapes for the iconic Porto Wine. You can explore the caverns and learn about the city’s history as well as the many wines made there.

From architecture to arts and music, Porto is now the most hospitable destination for startups to grow and an entrepreneurship hotspot, where you can balance your busy working life with the pleasures of its coastal weather and delectable and traditional food. Taking this cuisine into account, as well as the genuine and inviting people who make this city so warm and hospitable, “Best European Destination” was a good victory reward in the previous year.

Azulejos (tiles), considered by many to be a heritage in Portuguese culture, can be discovered by the most inquisitive eyes, and if you have the privilege of arriving by train at São Bento station, expect to be amazed by one of Portugal’s many best-kept architectural secrets.

Now, all eyes are on Porto! Rich in culture, people, and heritage, we want to empower a debate not only in the city itself but also in the world. This debate will be focused on enhancing and extending Design and Craftsmanship and discuss the role and reinforcement of our role in all of this.
