The enduring popularity of the Mid-Century modern style is based on many factors. It gave us clean lines, gentle organic curves, a love for different materials and designers that are idolized even today. While there is some disagreement about when the period started, it roughly lasted from the mid-1930s to mid-1960s. The timeless quality of the style, however, continues to appeal to today’s homeowners.
This Mid-Century trend can be described as a type of architecture, furniture and graphic design from the middle of the twentieth century. Normally we can describe this trend as simple with sleek furniture with straight lines that create depth and length with interesting, subtle curvature with pops of colorful decor. Mid-century modern brings in elements of the outdoors as well as natural light through large windows to create the feeling of a much larger outdoor space.
This trend can be characterized by minimalistic elements, a conservative style with a touch of classic with clean lines and angles that give us a fluid movement. Here the term “form follows function” is crucial but you can experiment with materials (the use of traditional, non-traditional, and even contrasting materials or even Wood Details).
Graphic Textiles, Sculptural Lighting and Earthy with Rich Colors are the other three topics to have in mind. Don’t forget the geometric influences, the curves and the corners: always choose the accents in your decor with multiple purposes. The color palette for this wonderful trend goes from neutrals to some more daring and brilliant.
