Arthur Dunnam for Jed Johnson Studio formed at the end of 2016 in New York City to continue the work of Jed Johnson Associates, which Arthur had served as Design Director for the past twenty years. Jed Johnson Associates continues to set standards in the industry.
Clients, peers and vendors consistently and wistfully speak of the firm’s impeccable taste, inspired style and remarkable quality. Director Arthur Dunnam worked closely with the late Jed Johnson for several years and reportedly has maintained the firm’s ideals and forward-thinking design momentum.
Jed Johnson, with no formal training in design, had made a name for himself first by decorating the interiors of Andy Warhol’s townhouse to incorporate Andy’s immensely diverse collection of decorative and fine art. His reputation expanded after completing the New York residence of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge.
With clients like Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, Jed’s firm was growing. For ten years Arthur Dunnam worked alongside Jed, whose generosity of spirit permitted Arthur to grow as a designer and project manager and to develop close relationships with their clients. Those client relationships played an immeasurable part in the success of the firm after Jed’s death.
Jed Johnson Associates, with Arthur Dunnam as Design Director, has continued to fashion projects of the calibre for which it became known: luxurious, unexpected but appropriate, finely attuned to the lifestyle of the client, the architectural integrity of the residence, and reflective of the setting. Arthur’s projects have appeared on the covers of Architectural Digest, House and Garden, House Beautiful, and Metropolitan Home, just to name a few.
Having collaborated on a number of residences with multiple partners at Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Gil Schafer, Frank Greenwald, and many other noted architects, Arthur has proven his ability to be a respectful member of the design team. His experience and abilities equally qualify him to take on a more comprehensive role if a project calls for it.
