Rug Design Inspiration from Karen Davis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

She and her family started their own interior design<\/a> business after moving back to Houston, dreaming of white sofas made of velvet and silk drapery hanging on the wall in their new home<\/a>. However, when her daughter was a toddler, she had a \u201cmommy feeling\u201d that something was wrong because it was unusually quiet. She walked into her living room<\/a> to find her daughter doing her own decorating \u2013 drawing with a black<\/a> Sharpie on herself and the furniture, and that was\u00a0it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a living room<\/a> makeover designed for a mom of 6. It is very family-friendly and is intended for Mom\u2019s enjoyment. The rug design inspiration here is a custom-bound carpet<\/a> in blue and grey that is stain resistant and was chosen to withstand the dog and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The den is a small, oddly shaped room<\/a>. This room is for the kids, so dad and mom can keep an eye on them while they cook. Smaller swivel chairs have been added to watch TV when desired, as well as a small sofa to accommodate more guests. Because it is a small space, the design also includes a nested table set that can be tucked away. The rug design inspiration chosen for this room was a rug that matches the colors of both sofas and pillows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This house had a small garage that was partially closed in for a spare room<\/a> that was being used to store odds and ends. But the owners wanted a nicer space where a guest could sleep but the kids could play in as well. So they placed a sleeper sofa and small built-in only so the kids had room to play in the space. The rug design inspiration in this room is this colorful rug that livens up the room and matches the pillows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because she had toddlers, it was suggested that the furniture had rounded corners so the kids could play. This rug in a light color and pattern matches perfectly the overall picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
