Solomon Cordwell Buenz<\/span><\/em><\/strong> will be our topic today. With offices in Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and Seattle, SCB<\/strong> is a nationwide architecture, interior design, and planning firm. Since 1931, Solomon Cordwell Buenz<\/strong> has left an enduring impression on the country\u2019s skyline, campuses, and communities by assisting our clients in doing the same across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solomon Cordwell Buenz: How It All Began<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Creative thinking and innovation have been at the center of SCB<\/strong>\u2018s design philosophy since the company\u2019s founding in 1931. In 1956, Lou Solomon<\/strong> hired John Cordwell<\/strong>, and they created the Carl Sandburg Village, which triumphed in a citywide competition in 1957. The project became a national model for urban regeneration because it included amenities including townhomes encircling above- and below-ground structured parking and landscaped plazas. John Buenz<\/strong> joined the company as John Cordwell\u2019s third partner in 1963. Together, the three men laid the groundwork for a strong high-rise residential profession that is still going strong today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
