Sami

The Sami are indigenous people who inhabited the Arctic area of Sápmi. The traditional Sami livelihood included coastal fishing, fur trapping, sheep herding and, what they knew best, the semi-nomadic reindeer herding. This is the basis for the creation of the SAMI rug: the unique lifestyle of strength and resilience in the cold snow, brought by the clear spotted and textured patterns in hand-knotted thin wool.
When seeking for a rug that is pet-compatible, we need to search for materials, colours and constructions that are more conducive to our pets’ happiness. To find the right rug, it is important to think about materials – synthetic materials have advantages when it comes to durability and it is easier to clean, while some natural materials can even be machine-washed. Here are some materials to consider:
Jute
A natural fibre that is extremely durable, it can withstand the wear and tear of high-traffic areas. It can be vacuumed and spot treated and in a natural brown colour, dirt is camouflaged so you don’t have to constantly clean it.
Poppy

Poppy, a secular flower was in ancient times offered as a way of farewell. This flower has strong connotations, being associated with dreaming, fertility and resurrection. POPPY rug illustrates the delicacy as well as the strength of nature, presenting a beautiful combination of different grey shades. This rug is made of hand-tufted 100% wool and is perfect for interior ambiences like living rooms and bedrooms.
Kubeo

In Amazon’s heart, one can find the Kubeo tribe, an ethnic group of the Colombian Amazon. Wool
It is a more luxurious option than synthetic pet-friendly carpets. Although it is not stained resistant or hydrophobic, it’s a durable and eco-friendlier option because of its natural fibres.
Cotton
These rugs are lightweight making them easy to move and they are machine washable in smaller sizes. If you have a large one, an enzymatic spot cleaner can remove unwanted stains.
Himba

Himba is a southern Angola tribe, who lives in a land isolated by deserts and mountains and dresses in strictly traditional ways. Himba is famous for its beautiful women painted with ochre and long tresses wrapped in red clay. They have an extreme capacity to survive in hard conditions, a remarkable feature from where HIMBA is born: a strong, powerful, red coloured rug made from hand-knotted thin wool, taking to your home the warm sensations of Africa.
Polypropylene
This synthetic fibre is stain resistant, highly durable, and repels water. It can be spot-cleaned with detergent and water. Also known as Olefin, it’s used to make indoor/outdoor rugs.
If your pet sheds a lot of fur, choose a rug that is closest in colour to its fur to make fallen strands, if you have a young one prone to accidents, a multi-coloured rug is best to disguise small stains and repeating pattern are also good for making stains less noticeable.
Byscaine

Trees have been venerated since immemorial times: they have their roots in the ground and their trunk and branches extended towards the sky. This concept is found in many of the world’s religions as the tree that links the underworld and the Earth and holds up the Heavens. The BYSCAINE rectangle rug draws inspiration from the tree trunk, having the tree bark patterns on its surface, bringing nature into any room of your choice.
Here are some times on what to try and what to avoid:
Try using two smaller rugs in a space to create the look of a larger one; low pile rugs have shorter and denser fibres that are easy to clean and do not keep dirt or fur; cut pile rugs are constructed from sheered strands and will allow your pet to walk or stretch without getting their claws caught.
Avoid hooked and looped rugs for they are prone to pulls and snags; silk and viscose-blend rugs are of and luxurious but the fibres are delicate and easily stained, need also to be professionally cleaned; high pile rigs ook fluffy and feel plush but are more prone to catch dirt and fur, requiring frequent cleaning.
Baltic

The Baltic Sea, located in Scandinavia, has several water types and different blue shades that compose it. The BALTIC rug really embodies the essence of the Baltic Sea, having a blue colour gradient. This versatile design rug is a harmonious product that simultaneously transmits the strength of the sea and the softness of the blue colour.
