Terracotta seems to be the trendiest colour for interiors for the next year. Terracotta is a clay-like earthenware ceramic that can be either glazed or unglazed. In addition to being used for flower pots, terracotta is also often used for water and sewage pipes, bricks, and sculptures.
The word “terracotta” comes from the Italian words for “baked earth.” Since terracotta pottery is made by baking terracotta clay, that only makes sense! This trendy colour is often used as a colour word, too, to describe the natural brown-orange colour of terracotta products.
A shade between orange and brown, this trend is a cosy colour that helps to warm the house with just a few touches. The colour of earth and nature that, although it may seem difficult, it is easy to combine in different ways, combining well with warm colours and materials such as wood but also with cold colours such as blues and materials like concrete (creating an interesting contrast effect).
But remember that are two type shades of this colour that we think are more trendy: on the one hand, a shade that tends to brown and with a bit of pink inside, on the other a shade that almost tends towards an orange-pink. These nuances seem very elegant, both used in a total look or dosed with small colour accents, perhaps an armchair, some cushions, some rugs.
